Making Baby Food Purees

I’ve been having fun with my KidCo Electric Food Mill lately. It takes you awhile to get used to making baby food when it’s not a normal part of your cooking routine, but if you get in the habit of blending up some of your leftovers when you’re cleaning up after dinner and putting them in the freezer, it really takes no extra time at all. You can also get in the habit of setting aside some food for your baby while you are preparing dinner.

The Dreaded Pink Slip

“Hey Mom,” my daughter said when I answered the phone, “I’ve got some big news. I didn’t get a pink slip!”

My daughter is a first year teacher and many of her friends and co-workers did get the dreaded pink slip. Some of them will be rehired before school starts back in the fall, but Kentucky’s education budget is tighter than ever; and, as a former school board member, I am well aware that dollars only stretch so far.
