Outdoor Toys: Fun And Exercise Combined

There is some concern about whether our children get enough exercise in their daily lives and for many children, their primary relaxation activity of choice is to sit down and play on a computer or a games console. But there is one easy way to encourage children to do more physical activity in their day to day life and that is by providing some fun active toys to play with in the backyard. These commodities will let them get the exercise they need while having a great time. Let’s have a look at some of the best types of outdoor activity toys available.

Trampolines

Every child would happily spend hours simply bouncing up and down on a trampoline and if, as an adult, you’ve had a turn you’ll know that it is guaranteed to get the heart pumping and the muscles in the legs and arms working hard. For that reason, if you have the space available in your back yard, a trampoline is an excellent purchase. They come in a range of sizes and shapes so there should be one available to suit any garden. Just be considerate about where you place it in your garden – children can’t help but shout and scream when trampolining so think of your neighbors and try not to place it near their windows or any seating area they might use.

Swings Sets/Climbing Frames

Another larger item, these come in a wide variety of combination from a single swing, up to large wooden constructions containing a swing, slide, den and climbing net. Any of these will be well used by children of all ages, letting them get involved in a variety of physical activities either alone or as part of a group.

Ball Games

A great solution for a smaller garden is swingball – this is a tennis based game for two players but the ball is attached by cord to a post so it cannot fly over a fence and get lost. Swingball is great for developing eye to hand coordination as well providing the physical activity of hitting the ball. For a larger garden, a small football goal and a ball offer hours of endless football fun for a group of children.

  1. Wow, I happen to have all these commodities out my back yard lol. I can attest to the trampoline being a good buy – the kids would jump around on the trampoline for ages, it seems to be the best feature out there. :)
